Broken off engine alarm

Hello new member 1st. Time posting, I have a dilemma, my engine alarm broke off, Volvo penta part 3860264 and no one seems to have one, except a shady looking outfit in Belarus, and I’m not ordering that one, my question is, is there a work around? I can’t be the only person that this has happened to if this has happened to you, what did you do? How did you still use your boat? If this is the wrong spot for this post please direct me to the proper place thanks

Welcome, What's the alarm for? is that just the cover? does it have wires? If it's the whole unit then you can replace it with any 12v noise maker(horn, buzzer etc.)

Hi cptbill thanks for responding, the pic posted is of the top there’s another part still on the bracket. I’m trying to attach another pic of the underside, but it ain’t happening! This alarm sounds when low on oil, low voltage, failing water pump, etc. any of those conditions and the back up alarm goes off (that’s what it sounds like….a back up alarm) there are wires and contacts and things on the underside of the pic! Finally got the under side!

How many wires run to it? 2 or are those black things on the back also connectors? If it's just the 2 wires then any 12v noise maker even a back up alarm from the local auto parts store will work

Well I actually found the alarm in Michigan, got it gonna put it on this weekend, by the way, it probably wouldn’t have been a good idea to take out my boat with the alarm broken, right? I know I’m new to boating but….. I ask because someone suggested I ignore the broken alarm and go out anyway……That sounds stupid to me! Thanks for your patience and understanding ( now I just need to keep it off the rocks, 3rd prop in 2yrs) oh well!

Your are wise to listen to your gut, once you get out on the water and start having fun you often don't realize there's a problem till it's to late. Better to have a reminder that something could be wrong. Staying off the rocks will come with time
