View the latest post New to me 330 Coastal

Hello, everyone! I just purchased my second wellcraft last month, 2000 330 Coastal, a big step up from my 20 Sport CC. As I go about getting her seaworthy for the season over the next few months, I'm sure many questions will come up so I am happy to be a (new) part of this community.

A bit about the boat. I purchased from a gentleman who hasn't used it the past two seasons and was on blocks at his property. I got it transported down near me so I can easily go over and do little projects. The boat surveyed ok, average wear and tear for the age, some issues, some upgrades. The biggest things that are at the top of my list before season starts in May are new batteries, water heater, generator repair, and main engine service (oil, plugs, filter, everything else). The genset is a Kohler 5E, we didn't start it at survey but previous owner stated that it runs fine, but after about 30 minutes you will see a sheen in the water near the exhaust. he claims piston rings. I consulted a nearby "dealer" who has over 10 years experience with Kohler marine gens, he disagrees and thinks its running too rich, a carb issue or maybe choke. Does anyone here have any experience with this model and have tips they can share?

From there, I have a laundry list of things I want to do to the boat to get it set up for tuna fishing and cruising/camping this year. So I'll be back as things come up.

My first post. I have new-to-me 2018 Wellcraft 290 Coastal and am looking forward to using this boat for fishing and cruising off southern California and islands.
Have you all found a rod storage rack that will allow me to stow the rods in the cabin?
Thanks in advance.
Len

I’ve bought a 2002 Wellcraft Fisherman Tournament addition with two captains chairs.
I bought a new Yamaha for it and I’m redoing everything on the boat that needs it
I thought I’d jump on this form and see if anyone would be able to tell me where I can get some cushions for the boat. I can make them however, but if I could find some that are adequate, it sure would be less of a pain.
There are some problems with the boat, but there is no perfect boat. It has minimal storage and minimal access to anything other than that. It’s a good boat ha

View the latest post Any 186 SS owners in here?

Hi gents, I've searched all over and don't see any mention of a 186 SS, were they rare or just junk? lol

I just bought a beautiful 2000 model with the 4.3 Mercruiser, boat was one owner, well maintained and only has 300 hours on it. Needs bellows and a few electrical items straightened out and will be good as new.

Just curious if anyone has one? any Do's or Don'ts? should I sell it and cut my losses? :)

Thanks,

View the latest post New guy, first boat ever!

Hello ladies and gents, just found this board since purchasing my first ever boat- a 2000 Wellcraft 186SS with the 4.3 Mercruiser.

Hoping to tap into some of the knowledge here, and learn a new hobby! I'm a long time auto racing enthusiast and mechanic and my wife and I decided since we live in the sunny state of Florida that its time we get a boat!

I found a beautiful 2000 Wellcraft 186 in phenomenal condition with just 300 hours on the clock, it appears to have been very well maintained and so far I have only found some minor wiring issues that I have to correct. The "UP" trim button does not work, and someone seems to have wired it to a small aftermarket switch that they mounted on the dash, and of course the bellows are shot from setting so that it my first undertaking. Any tips or tricks? Its the Alpha one Gen 2 stern drive.

Thanks!

I have a 2002 Martinique with a failed Warner Linear actuator. Thomson Linear say they can help me but must have the model number of the actuator which is stamped on the side of the gearbox. Unfortunately, mine is gone because of corrosion. The number would start with DM12 xxxxx. This actuator could be on other Wellcraft or other mfgs. boats. The label on the motor show it is a DM12 series, dynamic load 1000#, static 1500#, 12v, 14 amps, duty time max 25%, ignition protected. The shafts travel length is 24” with another 1 1/2” for the 1/2” attachment hole. Have already searched the internet for an alternative supplier but can’t find one meeting all these requirements. Thanks in advance for any help !

Does anyone know of a source for replacing interior panels. The existing fiberglass ones are badly beat up and are barely holding on with screws.
