View the latest post 1993 Coastal 28 exhaust manifold replacement

Hi Gang

I have a small mobile repair business on the South Shore of Mass.

I was recently asked by a potential customer if I would be interested in replacing the manifolds and elbows on his twin inboard RWC 5.7 Mercs.

The outboard manifolds are about a 1/2 inch away from the water tanks on both sides of the motors.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about this job?

I’m not a young man. Can’t position my self like Gumby any more and no longer lift motors.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Misfit

View the latest post 1998 Wellcraft 210 CCF

Hi everyone, I recently picked up a 1998 210 CCF. Where can I find the plastic rings that go inside the holes of the gunnel rod holders and I also need the locking screws for the transom chairs. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Stringers and fuel tanks

Picked up an 85 airslot 185, pretty decent shape for its age. My questions are 1) what are the saddle tanks made of and are they a concern? Where are the access points for the tanks? 2) the forward mount stringer is collapsing, has anyone done the 1/2" aluminum stock upgrade? Thanks in advance, love this boat. Lots of character and very unique

View the latest post How to Straighten Bent Plastic Window Molding

The starboard side window molding somehow got a bow in it and I want to flatten it to its original shape. I believe this can be done by putting the molding in the oven to soften it and then gently holding gently in the flat. The key is setting the oven just beneath the melting point of the plastic and I'm not sure what that might be for the plastic molding Wellcraft used on my boat. Another possibility is using a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the molding but I don't want to risk blistering it. Anyone done this?

View the latest post water / fuel separator

Hi,
Last summer I bought a 1988 Wellcraft 192 Classic. Before I winterized it, I ran the fuel out. After that I have been unable to start it without using starting fluid and having a bear of a time. When I took it to have it shrink wrapped, they could not get it started. They suspect I may have a lot of debris in the carb due to emptying the tank (I put fresh fuel and dry gas in shortly after). They advised me to change the fuel filter / separator. I cannot find a fuel filter / water separator anywhere. The fuel hose comes out of the fuel tank and directly down to the fuel pump then up to the carburetor. Should I install a separator and is this unusual for this boat? They guy I bought it from overhauled the engine and did a really crappy job of it. Thanks for any advice or assistance you can offer.

View the latest post Transmissions outdrives rotation

I have an 85 scarab 400 with twin mark iv bowtie blocks and am freshening them up. First thing is do both engines turn the same direction with one transmission converting the prop to turn the opposite way or does the engine turn opposite. Does it matter what serial number is on the transmission to tell if it does or do all of the transmissions turn the same way and it is in the engine. The TRS Drives reflect 330. What other info do i need as trying to get prices on a cam that turns the opposite way is hard. I have one bad lobe on my Solid Roller Comp cam. Both engines are loaded with MSD, Bowtie Blocks, 1050 Dominators, Stellings over the rear headers, Dart intakes etc. Any direction would be great.

View the latest post Heat Exchanger Install

I got ahold of a heat exchanger and would like to mount it to the front of the 181 cid in my 1989 170. It is not the exchanger specifically designed for this boat/engine so I have to be a little creative. Has anyone undertaken/accomplished this conversion. If so, I'd love to see some photos or get some ideas.
