View the latest post Attachment(s) Delco EST wiring

Upgrading the points ignition on my 89 Mercruiser 181 cid to the EST pointless ignition. The EST distributor has two plugs, one from the coil and the other from the module, has 4 pins. The setup I got had the coil to distributor harness, but did not have the harness for the 4 pin male plug that goes to the HEI module. I got a standard 4 pin female harness. What I know is that in run mode, this plug only uses one wire/pin. In timing mode, it uses 3 wire/pins. The problem I'm having is which ones in each mode. The first diagram just shows how the pins/wires are labeled. I searched the internet and ultimately came up with a series of diagrams that seem to contradict one another. In the second diagram nothing is labeled, but the position of the wires makes it appear that in run mode the single wire used goes from module pin R to the shift interrupter. In timing mode, pin R is instead connected to a 12v source and the jumpered wires are pins G and B. The latter seems logical because in timing mode, the advance function is disabled by grounding via pin G. However the third diagram shows the wiring in reverse: in timing mode the jumpered wires are R and E, and the 12v source is B. In run mode, B would apparently be the wire to the shift interrupter [which happens to be white/green]. The fourth picture is of the EST distributor in timing mode and shows the jumpered wires in what would be the R & E location.
If any one can clarify this for me, I would be eternally, well at least grateful for life.

View the latest post Fuel tank vent not connected- WTF

Not sure how or why this has happened. I recently bought a 2004 240- walkaround and covered for winter after purchase, now opening for duty and notice a strong smell of fuel in the cabin when I open. A little search finds that the fuel vent line at the tank, accessible by round plate on floor, is sitting there not connected to the tank!! The vent fitting is not plugged and the hose is just lying beside it with the clamp loosely attached to hose. Clearly, has not fallen off, as it is tucked aside several inches away from the tank!! Any idea why someone would intentionally disconnect, of is it feasible it was never connected at construction? The tank vent fitting dose not appear to have any indication that it has ever had a hose attached, it is dirty and has some corrosion on it. I am puzzled by this. Also, would like to know about the efficiency and effectiveness of the "vent in cap" style fuel filler that Wellcraft uses here, every other boat I have owned has had a vent fitting in the back or side of hull leading directly to the tank, and not in the filler cap.
Not sure how the vent works with the cap on the filler fitting.

Thanks ahead for any input here, guess I will just connect the vent line and see how things go. I was very relieved to find this situation after the discovery of gas smell in cabin, of course my worst fears were a leaking tank!!

View the latest post 222 Fisherman - Help make it happen

I'm ready to buy, will travel anywhere East of the Mississippi.
My objective is a new or recent 222 fisherman that's unpowered. Or a 2018/19 with Evinrude HO.
Of course I've had a few prices from those who quote the MSRP price sheet. Can't work with those types. I'm signed up here to find a dealer that wants to make a sale happen.
Thanks and hope to have replies.

View the latest post New 1990 Monaco 3000 owner in Las Vegas, NV!

Hi, all!

Just joined the site, as I am the new owner of a 1990 Wellcraft Monaco 3000 30' cruiser! I'm excited about my acquisition, and have already come across the issues with getting information about an older boat...especially with Wellcraft claiming bankruptcy in 2006. I am in Las Vegas, NV...but may be relocating to Ohio near Lake Erie soon.

I have two other Bayliner Capris, and love the boating world! Also a certified SCUBA diver seeking a career in the field

If any of you own, have owned, operated, or know much about my vessel...please feel free to reach out! It is a beautiful vessel in excellent condition. I have the generator owner's manual, and the Clymer repair manual on the way. Any other materials would be greatly appreciated!!!

-Any good parts sources?
-Owner/operators/repair manuals?

Hope to bring something to this forum!!!

View the latest post failure of fuel tank guages

I have a 2007 Coastal 330 . Both of my fuel tanks have lost their readings. First one then a year later the other. Guages do not seem to be the problem so I am left to assume its senders or wiring. Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution. There does not seem to be any access to the sending units. I wondered if it was a common problem with the wellcrafts and if anyone has any trouble shooting experience to relay or other suggestions.
