View the latest post It's getting kind of wet around here

As Eta rides up along the west coast of Florida It's dumping a lot of rain, as of this posting highest wind I show is 26 mph but it's going to get much worse.
As the crow flies it's about 3,000 ft to the Gulf of Mexico from our house and this storm is suppose to make land fall about 40 miles north of here, at least it's moving pretty fast. for the rest of our Florida members on the west coast Hope no one gets a damage

View the latest post removing some color stripes

i have an '88 Gran Sport that i am updating. In those days the hull paint jobs were pretty colorful! Mine sometimes gets called the Barney Boat because of some of the shades of red (approaching purple) on it. Has anyone tried to remove some of the coloring? I understand that it is paint rather than tinted gel coat. I have heard of using oven cleaner, but I don't want to melt whats underneath!! Any other suggestions?

View the latest post Attachment(s) 2000 Sportsman 210

Hello all, new member here..

I recently purchased a 2000 sportsman 210 and absolutely love the boat. The only thing that brought the boat down were the failing fishbox hatches. I have been doing a lot of research about re coring my originals but I think they are too far gone. Chunks of fiberglass missing and cracked. I got several estimates to have the hatches made. I even looked for the originals. No luck. I decided to try making my own. I ordered a 24" piece of Starboard AS from Defender marine and knowing nothing sticks to Starboard I built up the edge to the desired 1" thick using #6 x 3/4" stainless steel screws and a scrap piece of aluminum to act as a stiffener. The results are great.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Hole in bow & cabin bed parts

Hi! I'm a first time owner of a Wellcraft. I just purchased a 1996 238 Coastal.
I have a couple of questions.
1) there is a hole through the hull right by the bow eye on the port side of boat. It is about 1/2" in diameter. Previous owner said that it was a drain for the anchor locker. Is this accurate? If so, why doesn't it have a thru-hull fitting instead of just a drilled hole?
2) does any have a picture of what the components look like that form the bed in the galley? Mine is missing the couple of pieces that cover the center floor area. I don't know how big they should be or how much of the cabin they cover.
Thanks!
Larry

View the latest post Attachment(s) Easy tackle box project

Used about $50 in materials and took about 1 hour to build/install under the leaning post. I was looking for a way to get easy access to my tackle while on the water. Saw something like this on another boat and stole the idea after talking w/ the owner about how he did it. Solid 8" fiberglass plank and ss hardware. All materials including 12" x 2" boxes from Home Depot.
