Sea Strainer Location

Postby Coastal29013 » Sun Jun 19, 2022 1:39 pm

My AC unit is now discharging much less water than it used to. Does anyone know if this most likely due to a clogged sea strainer ? I don't know where
the strainer is located or what it looks like. Any advice is super appreciated. Thx

Best I can tell you is to start tracing that water line back to it's source. Where it's located depends on who installed it, not all dealers put stuff in the same spot

OK I found 2 pumps in the stern bilge. One looks like pickup and one maybe a circulating pump. Both are running when AC is on. I don't know how to check
the water flow though. I know it's restricted. Should I start at AC unit and work my way back ? Thanks

Can you run each a/c separately? If you can the find the one with the flow problem. If you can maybe try disconnecting the water supply from the unit that's not working, turn it on see if there's water flow then try blowing air through the a/c unit to see if it's clogged. Then you'll know if the glog is in the line or the unit

CptBill, I only have one AC. I really just want to know where the sea strainer is so I can clean it out now and in the future.

Where is the Sea Strainer on your boat and how do you access it to clean the screen ?

Thx
