Need help IDing a fitting on the transom.

Postby Welchcraft » Sat Aug 15, 2020 9:27 pm

What is this fitting for? Is it for flushing the motor? New boat owner trying to figure everything out. Managed to successfully track down a blown auto bilge fuse, replace the batteries and clear a cloged "pee" line. Want to make sure I thoughroughly flush the motor after everyuse. I know there is a fitting on the motor, but the boat is on a lift, and if this other fitting would accomplish the same thing, that would be substantially easier to get to.

Can't figure out how to get the image to post, but here is an image I found on the web of the fitting. It's on a 220 Sportsman with an 200HP Yamaha OX66.

Looks like the outlet for a washdown

Thanks, I was able to follow the raw water inlet out to the fitting and it is indeed the raw water washdown. Now I just need to find the inlet to flush the motor

should be on starboard side of the engine, just below where the cowl meets the belly pan, if equipped

If equipped it will look like a hose fitting; If not equipped you will have to use ears to flush.

Just a guess, it is a raw water wash down fitting for a hose attachment?

If it is for a engine it will have a female connector, if its for a washdown it will have a male connector
