340 Coastal

Postby boaterholic » Sun Nov 22, 2020 4:57 pm

Hello all,

New member here in search of information on the Coastal 340. Wife and I looking with lot of interest at buying one and want to find out information on it before buying.

We would be using the boat primarily around Florida and Bahamas. I would like to ask anyone with experience on this model specifically how is the head sea ride and following sea ride in the typical summer 2'-4' seas in the Atlantic. Can I maintain above 20 kts comfortably without pounding or stuffing the bow?

Are there any weaknesses to this model to look for when I go look at a used one to buy?

What are real world performance numbers on this boat as far as cruise speed and mpg at cruise speed?

Thanks for the help!

Anyone know the dimensions of the mid berth in the 340 Coastal?

Don't Know the the dimensions of the aft cabin but the Coastal series is very stable but trying to maintain 20Kn in a 4" sea in any boat is not going to be to much fun for very long, it will pound. I've had my 270 out in 4-6' seas and I felt safe but I wasn't trying to do any thing in a hurry. I've also run 18-22 mph in 2-4ft seas and it dose pound but it's a dry ride and I haven't stuffed the bow

Also we do a lot of our long distance in our 330 Larson Cabrio and in a 4' sea on that boat it also pounds if your trying to run with speed, just thought that might be helpful. The Larson weighs about 14,000 with fuel and water full
