Deck plate for ‘88 well craft 3200

Postby Mgood01 » Sun Apr 29, 2018 3:02 pm

I was wondering if anyone knew where we could get a new deck plate for our ‘88 well craft St Tropez? The middle one is very flimsy and my husband can probably repair it but to buy all the stuff to do it will cost hundreds of dollars. It’d most likely be cheaper to get a replacement.

If you post a picture, someone should be able to point you in the right direction.

My ‘89 Gran Sport center deck plate flexes when I stand on it, maybe 1/4” deflection in the middle. I am assuming that is normal but the other two to each side do not. The flexing is from the center left to right, not lengthwise. I assume this is because the center plate rests on top of the other two on the sides.

The hatches are made of plywood core which is probably rotted somewhat after 30 years. The plywood deck on my boat between the two front seats was also rotted which added to the overall bounciness. I reinforced mine with steel angle irons which helped somewhat but made them even heavier. Finally I had all three rebuilt with composite core.

As far as getting new ones your only choice would be a boat junkyard where you would find ones 30 years old and just as rotted if not more.
If your husband can repair them for several hundred dollars, I think that is the best answer.
