Vessel Info: I don't own a Wellcraft at the moment, but I want to buy one of the 70s-vintage V-17 center-console boats. This forum seemed to be THE place to look for one of those boats, as well as more information on this model.

Looking for a classic V17!

Postby labtrainer20 » Thu Mar 19, 2020 10:53 am

I grew up on the coast of Rhode Island but have lived and worked in Maine since 1978. I'm a huge, lifelong fan of and user of center-console inshore fishing boats (my last one was a Parker 18), and I just discovered the wonderful, Ray Hunt-designed Wellcraft Step Lift V17 Fisherman, produced back in the 70s.

I WANT ONE! This model gets very positive reviews on fishing-boat forums like The Hull Truth, and it's just what I need for chasing the striped bass that populate Maine's coastal rivers each summer. I hope members of the Wellcraft Owners forum can help me with more information about this boat AND help me find one.

Looking and learning are much more fun than worrying and obsessing about the corona virus.

Hi labtrainer20, I've got one that was recently refurbished and I'd be willing to sell. I'll send you an email with more info as well. Feel free to respond here or to my email.
