How to Straighten Bent Plastic Window Molding

Postby wufibugs » Sat Feb 16, 2019 3:20 pm

The starboard side window molding somehow got a bow in it and I want to flatten it to its original shape. I believe this can be done by putting the molding in the oven to soften it and then gently holding gently in the flat. The key is setting the oven just beneath the melting point of the plastic and I'm not sure what that might be for the plastic molding Wellcraft used on my boat. Another possibility is using a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the molding but I don't want to risk blistering it. Anyone done this?
