When I turn sharply the I hear a clicking if I move back and fourth the wheel will continue to turn. I assume I need a steering cable. Is this something anyone can do or do I need a real mechanic? I have twin engines so do I need 2 steering cables? Is there a steering cable that is better than others? How do I find the correct cable? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks
Bill

One steering cable, somewhere on the cable there will a length, all cables are by length. Are the out drives moving or is it just a noise? also go on line and bring up a repair manual for your boat or buy one then decide if it's in your wheel house, typically there not to hard to replace as long as you can get to it without taking 1/2 the boat apart

The out drives turn. I can turn steering wheel but when I get to a certain point the wheel won't turn. If I force it or turn wheel a little then back it will turn. I read that if I replace steering cable it will turn like a brand new boat. When I bought boat I had to have the gimble clip replaced and they had to pull engine so both outdrives turn in sync.

try disconnecting the cable from the slave cylinder and see if it still binds that should tell you if it's the cable or something else, if the engines were pull also check behind them to make sure that there's nothing in the way or bent, jammed etc. with the ty bar
