Can you identify this engine?

Postby celticpiping » Mon Sep 09, 2019 8:56 am

This is a boat I'm considering taking on as a project(my first...) and I appeal to the vast knowledge here...
Owner says:
"I have a 18.5ft 1987 Wellcraft with an open bow. It was a project boat that I dont have time for anymore. Made some progress over the years. I used to wakeboat on it as is until the alternator died on me.

I had it serviced last summer with Mansons Marine to try and fix the problem. They said there is an alternator kit that could be installed but it was about $700 and it would also need a new trim pump.
"

I'm wondering what engine this is, as I see there are several that were offered for this year boat: I'm actually not even sure what the model is yet...
I might go look at it tonight

Thanks fellas,
Rich

Called the bastard child of mercruiser 470/488 FWC , an alt upgrade is half that amount. 170-188 Hp
Uses a stator system not a true alt.
