Hard Starting Warm

Postby 12020classic170 » Sun Jul 19, 2020 5:18 pm

I have a 89 170 classic with a 3.0. The boat starts up great when cold after a run when coming to dock it will die when trying to coast in a low throttle and won’t start back up for awhile. Once I get it going almost have to drop it in gear or it will die with a pop. Any ideas?

Have you had impeller replaced, outdrive service’s last 2 years, overheating? How long running till heats up, where’s the pop coming from ?

Just bought it. Installed a rebuilt outdrive on it. It doesn’t overheat. As far as length of time to warm up not sure takes a little while. The pop sounds like it’s coming from the carb.
