Working inside the bilge of a 252 Fisherman

Postby Waterfly » Thu Jun 13, 2019 10:16 pm

How do you work on wires, pumps etc. Do you get inside the bilge. It seems that the bilge area is too small to get in; but it is too large to be able to work the pumps from the outside. I am trying to connect underwater light and do not know how to get inside. Any ideas?

I have a 270 coastal and as far as I'm concerned It's impossible to work in the bilge can't get in it, can't reach the bottom from the access hatches or from the round access port that's in the area right in front of the engines so I use extensions on sockets and little grabber tools and some little hooks I made thankfully the wires and hoses have enough play in them that I can move them far enough that I can get a hand on them but it's a real choir. The person who thought that was good enough or that nothing in there would need attention should be flogged!

290 Coastal is the same. Although one could fit their torso under the aft bench and get to most things if tall and skinny enough. Many euro transom boats are like this.
