**WELLCRAFT 270 COASTAL GENERATOR INSTALL**

Postby Extreme One » Tue Apr 22, 2014 2:04 am

Hi All,

Am new to this forum, after having recently imported a 2004 270 Coastal Tournament here to Perth, Australia from Florida. Im wondering if anyone may be able to help me with a generator question. My Wellcraft's accessories are such that there is hot water heater, microwave, aircon/heating, cook top etc and all of these require a generator to run them (the other accessories work off 12V DC). Even on the circuit/switch panel it shows that there are switches to turn a generator on and off, The "STOP" Switch, when depressed down, is for a "PreHeat" so im guessing this would be for Diesel engine glow plugs prior to starting?. However, despite all this, I dont have one installed on board. Naturally, Im assuming that it either used to have one or, wasnt optioned at the time of build.
My question is, what sort/brand of generator would have been fitted?. Would it have been Gas or Diesel?. How would the exhaust system have been routed and what size would have been fitted at the time?. I very much want to have one installed and find one here thats suitable in Australia, however am unsure of what type/size etc due to the limited space below deck.

Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks for you time in advance,

Scott.

Scott, I have a 270 also. The Genset is Kohler petrol, fuel is from the boat fuel tank. Nothing separate. I would be sure that if the AC panel is in that the genset must have been there. Hopefully all the wiring is still in place and you need to get yourself the genset. I have attached info of my genset. I am in Perth also, so feel free to get hold of me. Cheers

Can any one recomend where to obtain a genset for a 2003 270 coastal 110/120v in the Perth/Fremantle area?

My 270 has a Westerbeke 5kw gasoline generator installed. I've gotten to know quite a bit about it. It wasn't in the boat when I bought it, they pulled it because it wasn't running right. Turns out, they weren't operating it properly. I had it running off the boat, and then installed it. I don't have a lot of use for it, so I don't use it much at all right now, but I can answer questions about how things are routed, etc...
