looking at 1999 Martinique 36ft. Engines have 1010 hrs on each. Fresh water 2nd owner. Not sure of engine life if inboards. Had a 19 ft American for 25 yrs. Great boat. Thanks cje

No such thing as "set" engine life. It makes a world of difference if they were run hard or sensibly. Buy an oil test kit - one for each motor. At least with those results you'll have some idea of their general condition.

Boat engines are very similar to airplane engines. If property maintained, TBO is approx 2000hrs, after which time you have to measure compression, monitor oil, etc every 100hrs to see when to replace or rebuild.
