1998 260SE 5.7 volvo

Postby liveaboard74 » Mon Dec 23, 2019 7:32 am

We just did a sea trial on the boat and the top speed really suprised me. 45 mph with a 5.7 in it. Cruised nicely at 30 mph at 3200 rpms. Does anyone know the fuel burn at cruse.

I know boats have two already boy needed to sell it quick have plans to do a lot of mods on it but want to run offshore with it 20 to 30 miles down the coast not out so wanted to know what your would guess is your fuel millage.

On a good day on smooth might push 2, but that’s on glass, I got same boat with merc, bravo 3, at 3200rpm I’m at 27 gps, more than 2 ft wave gets little rough, kinda on the light side for the size boat, funny I’ve never topped mine out, 4 thousand is 35 mph ,

1998 could go either way so I'll ask is it a TBI or is it carburetor? that will make a big differance

I’ve got tbi, but I’m just guessing on mpg, never worried about that, it’s been the price per gal that would concern me, but don’t want to worry and spoil the fun,ha

Yea worrying about fuel mileage is not something you should be concerned with, It is what it is as they say. You ether want to boat or not. Any way the measurement would be gal. per hour and at 3200 I would think that to be between 12-16 gph at a cost between $3.75-5.00
