Any general thoughts on this as a first boat?

Fella said he'll trade me for my firearm: I haven't seen the boat yet..
Anything of note to point out with this particular vintage craft?
I realize of course, no one is in front of the machine, so comments are taken as such...
:)
This would be my first boat: and I'm not shy about tearing into things to do repairs etc...
Seller says motor is: "40 horse Johnson"
I asked about any other repairs needed, aside from what the ad says, and seller says: "Correct, i had it out at the beginning of summer and it ran great but hasn't been run since been to busy with work"
The ad states:
"I have a 1985 Thundercraft Tri Hull the motor just got serviced over the winter it runs good just need the
driver and passenger seats replaced and a little reupulstry but floats and runs mins and just needs a hose
clamp for the gas line i just dont have time to use it and have my eye on
something else."

Well you gotta' start somewhere, just take a good look at the transom, floor and a general deep look over. Probably going to need some work but if it works for you why not

Personally I would keep the firearm and pay cash for the boat. that way if the hull is rotted all you lose is some cash
From one of the pics it appears the side panels are rotted away already
By the way there is a 25 ft twin 130 in central nj that I think is available , need some work ,no trailer
