on the used 1995 wellcraft I bought, noticed the cuddy carpet stays wet out of the water any ideas? I have not seen any cracks or anything on the underneath section, it's been three days now and it's still wet, any thoughts??

Several possible places - Could be the hatches are leaking for one. Where do you find the water in the cabin? floor - walls?

Run a fan in there and get it dried out, see where it’s stating to get wet or stays wet, send pics, what kinda boat? Don’t be so blunt on it

thanks guys! I am a little nervous about it, it is a 1995 wellcraft cuddy excel 19SL, it's the carpeted floor that's soaked for now, hate to say but when the boat gets in the water is when it gets damp! I will attach pics tomorrow, appreciate the replies!!

Don't forget the boat sits differently in the water then it does on the trailer, do you have a fresh water tank? is everything draining to the bilge? do you have an anchor locker? All things to consider

The fact that it is when it is in the water should help you find it; since it is in the floor as well it would have to be coming form below the water line.
Check all thru hull fittings and scuppers. Check all the areas Bill mentioned, good luck!!!

I took some pictures and will upload them, was on base earlier to put on a new cover and the cuddy is still wet/damp

Code: Select all

Tried to take these pics, still damp after almost a week! When I turned on the bilge pump brownish water did come out, I was parked in my drive way on a down slope as well!
Also noticed when I leave on the bilge pump, water continues to trickle out sporadically

You might have something blocking the drain holes and the bulge water is not making it back to the bugle pump. Try and find away to clean out the drain holes, probably won't be easy or fun

as a new boater, hadn't taken out the back drain plug but when I did yesterday, water poured out for about a good 5-8 min

Do you know if your bilge pump is functioning?
