Power for a 270 model??

I note not many looking at the specific forum for the Coastal, so will seek guidance here.
A 2000 model Coastal 270 with twin 150s doesn't seem like enough HP considering my experience with a Hydra-Sport 2550 with twin 200s. Boat I have found close by has just the 150s. We load down with 4 to 6 people and all the stuff that goes with fishing and have to run 50 miles for bottom fishing. I don't think the 150s are enough HP and need to know if that is probably true. Surly there are folks on this forum that have owned a 270 and can speak from experience. Thanks

It also depends the speed you wish to obtain to and from fishing grounds. If you set out to cruise and not expect to go 50 they probably will do fine but will drink a lot, but if ya look for a good engine in future Im real impressed with newer Suzuki, and Yamaha 4strokes, with Yamis my favorite with Zukes close 2nd.

Appreciate the reply. Want to make 22knotw with 6 people, fishing gear, food, etc. Find it hard to think that the twin 150s will get us up on step and going with that load. In fact other boats of that type and size all have 200s and many with the 225s which was the max boat rating. The family selling it, after their father passed away, have priced it up there with the better powered boats so don't believe it can be bought now and repowered as a cost effective move. Do you think the twin 150s will get that boat up on plane and cruise at 22knots with it loaded for fishing?? Since it appears to have gone out the door with that power does anyone else on the forum have something like it with similar power? Thanks

first 270 I ever seen or heard of with a pair of 150's usually 200 ands 225" paired, this boat was originally undr sold on overall price with a set of 150's again require high RPM and full full vs. the larger engines working alot less.
2 options sell the boat or repower!

Fortunately, I don't own the boat. I trying to buy a boat like the Aquasport 275, the Grady 272 or a Wellcraft Coastal 270. Happened to find the Wellcraft only 20 miles from my house, sitting in a yard. When I asked the price the yard manager said it belonged to a family whose Father, (owner), had just passed away and they might be interested in selling it. Later discussion produced a sail price which was very high, particularly since he only had the 150s on it.
Other boats of this type and size all have 200, 225, or even 250s on it, hence my question. I think it is way underpowered for our use, 6 bodies, plus fishing equip., ice, food etc, and run 50 miles to get to the fishing gournds. Before I passed on the boat wanted some experts opinion. To repower, even with used motors, would necessitate an offer so low I don't believe they would accept it at this time. Thanks
