Postby Cgj1971 » Fri Mar 12, 2021 12:05 pm

Hi I'm Chris was wondering if anyone could help me decide if a 2002 180 fisherman is the boat for me I'm in Florida and like to fish for trout and reds in the gulf steinhachee area was wondering if 180 fisherman is right for my needs?

Welcome Aboard, With the drive down your looking at a 32" draft according to the original specs so if your ok with that draft the boat would be great. If I'm not mistaken you got some sallow water up there and a lot of rocks so for me the draft is the only thing I would be looking at

Thanks I normally fish around 4ft so shouldn't be a problem... but as far as the boat are they ok?

Very stable and sea worthy, only down side is whoever designed the fisherman or coastal series never expected anyone to have to work on them. By that I mean there are systems on those boats that are just a b!@#h to get to, other than that they're great boats

I have the same boat and love it. Extreamly stable, well built, and solid. I've had it in gnarly conditions but she preformed very well and kept me dry for the most part due to the deep V. Here in FL where storms pop up out of nowhere, you'll be thankful to have a deep V. I wish it had more storage but I'm working on that. Great all around boat.

I just bought a 2003 180 fisherman. I love it. Runs smooth. Just wish there was more storage.

Same problem with storage. With two people fishing you tend to stumble over each other. Theres a custom shop in town that can build storage under the center console. I'm thinking some tilt out drawers for tackle. I did take out the din size radio and replaced it with a locking glove box. Finally a place to store my keys, wallet, registration, etc. Took me some time to find it but worth it. Removed the speedo and installed a gauge size radio.

Oh, and congrats. As Captbill said, enjoy replacing the livewell pump or bilge pump. Not fun.
