Transmission knocking

I have a 96 martinique 3200
Brand new shafts before put in the water
Now there is a knocking coming from the middle of my boat on starboard side
The boat was never tested after installation
Would the knocking have caused my shaft to bend? My mechanic says it's bent 3/4 of an inch
