Drain Plug behind batteries Wellcraft 232 Coastal

The batteries, battery switch and sounder module are located just under the step-down into the cuddy. I noticed some water around the batteries and decide to investigate. Removed one battery and saw this plug. It screws into a hole in the floor and has an o-ring to obviously make it water tight. It obviously doesn't work! Removed the plug and water comes pouring out. It is full of water down there! The bilge of this boat is dry and the boat is on a trailer, not in the water. So, now I am perplexed. Does this boat have two separate bilges? And no connection between the two so they can both drain? No way to get water out of this area without using a manual pump? I can't ask the previous owner because he passed away. And his wife just doesn't know anything about the boat. It took forever to get all the water out but I have to figure out how water gets down there to begin with and if there is a drain plugged up somewhere.

Anyone familiar with the 2010 Wellcraft 232 Coastal or might have an idea? Attached a pic for clarification. Any info appreciated! and thanks in advance.

Do you have a way to access the very front pert of the bilge like under a seat or anchor locker? If so try putting water in there and see if it makes it to the stern, that should at lest tell you weather or mot the bilge is draining to the stern like it should

I have a 270 so it may not apply to your boat. Basically there is a forward bilge located under the aft birth with its own bilge pump. It is not connected to the bilge on the stern. The bilge in the stern has its own bilge pump. When I bought it it had water in the front and a dry stern. Confused until I searched it out. I had water from a couple of places - anchor locker drain, port lights. Slowly fixing things and the problem has going away.
Like I say - not sure about your boat and wish you luck!!!

Can you find a steep embankment to tilt boat see if water flows to back and out drain, I always do that before storing winter but I’ve got a pretty dry boat, just a leak in my spray off hose connection if using sprayer
