Hull Damage in Rough Seas?

Postby Dixlexus » Tue Sep 08, 2020 6:51 pm

Had a run back from the channel islands to santa barbara on Sunday 06SEP2020. We crossed the channel at 20 to 25 mph (cutting throttle when neccessary), 5 ft seas and 15-20 mph winds for 34 miles. Was able to attack the wave faces at around a 30 degree angle to minimize the blows but still ended up almost completely in the air on numerous occasions. 1989 SCARAB 21 handled it like the champ she is but... came crashing down into the trough hard a couple times, no visible damage. Do I need to worry about possible hull damage if I get caught in rough seas again?

Hard to say; you will have to just watch what the hull does.
