I looked at a 2002 Wellcraft Martinique 3700 today that surprised me, it's in good condition and I like the layout, a lot. Very roomy/beamy. It has the 496HO with V-=Drives.

I am not new to boats. I've owned 7, from Maxum, to Sea Ray to Regal to Monterey. 24ft to 40ft. Sedan Brage and Cruisers. I cannot find any information on this make though.

I am curious to hear from those who know about this boat, the pros, the cons, the good, the bad.

The Martinique series is a nice line up of express cruisers. The only thing that makes owning a pre 2008 Wellcraft of any line is the lack of information. In 2007 or 2008 Wellcraft went out of business. Then someone bought the rights to the name only and then a few years later the name was sold again to the Beneteau Group. I have gone As far as driving down to where the plant was in Sarasota to see if any of the local boat dealers retained any of the info on the boats, couldn't find any or find anyone who worked there when it was Wellcraft (someone else is building boats there now ) no luck. Now that shouldn't stop any one from owning a Wellcraft because all the components are used by all the other lines ( Sea Ray, Regal, Monterey and so on ) so all you have to do is look up that component and you'll find out how it's wired, plumbed and everything else. Also it's ether Merc. or Volvo so get a Sealoc manual and your all set there and there are no wiring diagrams per say because the are no wiring harnesses, most boats even today are wired using bulk wire and follow the component manufacturers wiring diagram the wires are numbered with tags on each end making tracing wires easer. Bottom line it's a well built boats that's comfortable and rides nice.

bought a 2002 Martinique 3700 in August. We have no complaints at all. Everything except the port wiper works like it was new. Most of this is probably due to the previous owners taking care of her but i am sure that the manufacturing had a lot to do with it. I found it very easy to get used to and the handlling is light and easy to control forward and reverse. My slip is a hard turn in a relatively small area and i can get all 37' in place easily. Much easier than my old 6o's Chris Craft and Owens. If you bought it for a reasonable price i believe you will be happy. Just keep in mind that it is a heavy boat (16,000 lbs dry) and cruse speed is about 33. Good luck
