85 3200 coastal spongy front deck??

have an 85 3200 i reacently purchased, boat is solid as far as hull n stringers go, but up front by pulpit n deck hatch is real spongy.. i do alot of fiberglass work in my field, n was wondering if anyone has found a solution to this other the the inevitable?? really not looking to cut it up to fix rite, but if i have to, i will. thanx..
