Dear all,
I am considering a new to me Wellcraft Portofino 43 from 1988. Boat has 2x CAT 3208 with 375HP each. My question is: What kind of problems should I be aware of regarding this engines? Are they reliable? How difficult it is to get spares? And regarding the hull? Are there any major concerns that I should be aware of?
Thanks very much for all the help!
Regards,
Tiago

3208 cat's are very reliable I believe the service cycle is 500 hr fluid change then 1,000 hr fluid and filter change parts for the 3208 are not difficult to find. Regarding the hull there where a lot of instances with mid 80's Wellcraft ( and others) having problems with stingers and transoms deteriorating so I would advise getting a Marine Surveyor that knows older boats and have a survey done paying particular attention to those areas

TiagoPR, Hi Tiago - Did you decide to get the 1988 Portofino? I got one a few weeks ago, but with gas engines. Let me know so we can share what we learn about our boats.

Thanks,

Doug
