Bilge pump location

I have a 2000, 24' Walkaround. I am getting getting wet carpet in the cuddy. The rear bilge is dry, I can only assume the forward bilge is holding water, but I do not know how or if there is a forward access to it. Could it be below the plate that supports the table?

Hi No,
On MY W/A, the forward bilge is located just rear of the forward bulkhead. In order to access the bilge I have to be in the cabin looking aft. There is a hatch located near the floor toward the bottom of the bulkhead. Upon opening the hatch I get access to my forward bilge. Good luck.

Thanks for your advice. That was exactly where it was. I embarrassingly have to admit I never looked with a flashlight and assumed it was farther forward. The reason I have been so concerned about it is in 1-2’ seas, the carpet in the cuddy is always getting wet even though the aft bilge is staying relatively dry. The drain hole between the cabin and forward bilge compartment doesn’t seem to be blocked, but the drain hole clearly shows standing water. Any idea where it may be coming from?

A couple of things come to mind
On my boat, when it rains, the rain comes in through the small hatch over the cabin door. There is a piano hinge connecting two horizontal laying plexi pieces that is supposed to be waterproofed by a piece of reinforced rubber. The rubber has worn through and now the rain comes in and wets the carpet right by the hatch that leads to the bilge. I'm currently looking for a replacement piece of reinforced rubber.
The auto switch for my bilge was of the type where the DC wires were directly connected to the actuator which means if the wires are hung up, the switch won't activate properly. I switched mine out.
If you find water coming into the cabin, and your hull is in good shape then check the seam where the deck meets the hull. I've heard of several Wellcraft where the seam separates.
First thing I'd check would be both the auto and manual functionality of the forward bilge. Water from the bilge should be under an inch of so deep when the bilge has just finished cycling.
Good luck and let us know what you find.

I have a 2000 WA and had the same problem. If your carpet is getting wet after it rains or you wash your boat, check the seal around your steering wheel. My 22 WA has hydraulic steering and the area where the steering is mounted was not sealed. A lot of the water from the helm ran around the steering and into the cuddy. The water ran down between the fiberglass and the inner vinyl covered wall so the inside wall was never wet to the touch. I sealed around they hydraulic steering and the top of the plastic instrument cover and my carpet stays dry.
