In looking for boats I found a 2000 coastal 270 with twin 2000 mercury, efi, saltwater at 150hp each. Most like boats for sale have at least twin 200, 225s, or even 250s. Are twin 150s enough power for this boat after I get loaded for fishing with 6 adults, ice, food, gear etc.?? My experience with a Hydra-Sport 2550 WA with twin carb. 200 Johnsons suggests twin 150s aren't gong to do the job? Looking for opinions from people that have the boat and can speak to the power required or even have other boats that are similar and can share their wisdom. Thanks

270 is a wide heavy hull, and I have the 290 coastal and couldn't imagine less than what I got 225 Yami 4strokes. One thing for certain, in this day in age I suggest really thinking bout pros and cons of 2strokes?? The Mercurys will drink some gas and oil and are not equipped with a HD lower unit that is known for going out with use of heavy boat. I wouldn't buy a boat with 2strokes after running 4strokes, really. Good Luck

I would like 4 stokes but price to get a boat with them is above my budget. The early Yamahas in the 225/250 hp range are a disaster with their corrosion, but I have heard good things about the Suzuki ones. Boats I am looking at have ox66 or Johnson/evinrudes. I'm working with 25,000 to 30,000 dollars. Need trailer, WA, transom door, 22knot cruise. Looking at Grady 272, Aquasport 275, and Wellcraft coastal 270. 1999-2001 vintage, which gets me the no wood Grady. Thanks for your opinion.
