interrupter switch warning whistle/how to disable?

Mates,
My former boat mechanic was supposed to replace this earlier this summer but, instead, he removed the plastic slide in piece and said this would work until he could get around to it.
Recently, and especially last weekend, after start-up the warning whistle remains on for anywhere from 2 minutes to 10 minutes, which basically is about to drive my friends and me crazy.
Since my mechanic has disappeared and I don't know anyone honest and reliable, I would like to disable it until I can locate someone I trust to replace it.
Does anyone have any insight or instructions I can use, or any websites that will help?

Thus far, I have not found anything helpful on the internet.
Thank you,
Wallace M. Berry

I can't imagine a warning buzzer failing on. If it's on, it's getting power, and something is telling it to stay on. I'd get your engine checked out. It could be a temperature problem, or something else causing the buzzer to stay on.

Now, that being said, mine was WAY too loud, so I covered the little hole in the buzzer with a piece of tape. I guess it kind of defeats the purpose of warning someone outside the boat that it's about to start, but we don't swim, we just fish, and it's just the wife and I.

Mine is mounted on the back side of my gage cluster. I had the panel off for something and saw it there and decided to make it about 75% quieter. :)

It's just a black box with a tiny little hole in it (maybe 1/8")

I see you're in Wauseon. Do you dock on Lake Erie?
