two brand new engines make....holy cow and such!!!
So our 94 Wellcraft martinique 3200 - we got her for a song but have always struggled with the engines - they turned over every time- she always got us where we wanted to go but she never had the power - honestly by the tail end of last year we struggled to hold 3500 RPMs wide open with the twin Crusader 350XLs..
We had multiple marina mechanics and friends look at it and work on it -hubby is quite talented too... yes we tried a host of things - would really rather not relive them, and she was just slowly getting worse. So at the end of season - husband was just DONE with worrying and said we were going to upgrade... boat shopping ensued - found a couple of likely prospects and then - life happened and less money became a factor. So we had to go with plan B. Repower a 24 year old boat. We looked at long blocking and new engines. We found a local marine mechanic with new old stock on Mercruiser 350 with carburetors. WORTH EVERY PENNY and 60K cheaper then the boat we were looking at.
HOLY COW. Damn. WOW and OMG. You don't know what you don't know and we DID NOT KNOW that this boat could be so freaking fast and sassy!!! or that she could be (dare i say - nimble)
We finally cleaned and painted her bottom put in all new gauges ( ha! zero hours was a treat) - are currently working on getting the rear upholstery redone and THANK GOD ITS BOATING SEASON!!!!!
there is no point to this other than my excitement and sheer joy. Happy boating to all and to all sunny days!!!
