1996 218 walkaround construction

looking to purchase a 1996 218 walkaround wellcraft with a 200 Johnson ocean pro.
with that said does anyone know if the transom and stringers have wood?? has anyone had any issues with this year boat?? any info will help.

Welcome Aboard, I think that in the 90's they where a glass . The 80's where a big problem in all Wellcraft lines with stringers and such rotting out and I believe the 90's is when they solved that problem

They are regular construction lumber stringers, I looked at a boat a month ago think it was a 96 and it was pretty hollow sounding on transom supports etc and a spray covering around bilge drain hole, my thought was sank once and rotted out, was a nice looking boat though, a friend was looking for but past., just about all boats have issues, it’s a crapshoot

Yep goodday your right 1998 was the first year for wood free transoms and stringers but they still used balsa cor in decks till 2000.
