Hi folks,

My name is Frank, just bought and a 2004 220 Sportsman with a F225 Yamaha for 6 months and love the boat. It's a well built boat and I do boating mostly at Clearwater FL. Still have a lot to learn about the boat including live bait well and flush down system. I would appreciate if anyone can direct me to where to learn about this boat. The owner's manual was not much helpful.

What do you want to know? It can't be much different from my 2003 Coastal, and I've had mine long enough to figure everything out (and replace this and that).

Thanks for the reply and apologize for the late follow-up. I don't have much chance to work on the boat lately.
I apologize for switch subject a little. I went back to check the boat after storage and a strong gas smell was in the chamber where the batteries and switch were located (the one just behind the steering wheel). I used a fan to clear the smell and started the engine. The engine hesitate to start but ran finally at idle around 400-500 rpm with some unburned fuel smell in the back. I shut it down after a couple minutes then it won't restart. I tried it again after 10 min sitting and there is a big loud pop and engine still won't start.
Could someone point out to where could be the gas smell come from and why I am getting unburned fuel in exhaust. It's a 2004 Yamaha F225 engine.

Hello, my name is Susie Ketchum and we are new owners of a 1984 Wellcraft 31' Day Cruiser. Please excuse me if I don't have the name completely correct. My husband is very knowledgeable about boats, has grown up around them and right now is completely stumped with a problem we're having. I'm "backseat" helping with this forum to see if anyone else has had this same kind of problem before. We picked up the boat, headed home and right after announcing to the lockmaster that we wanted to lock through at Watts Bar Dam, we lost an engine. It finally restarted, we locked through, went about 200 yards and lost the other one. Finally got one started and limped our way home on one engine, it took us 8 hours to go from Watts Bar to Chattanooga. We get almost to the marina to dock (it's pitch black dark by now) lost both engines. This time the engine we lost first started right up. We docked with one engine, my husband jumped onto the dock and "lassoed" the boat beautifully into the slip. Since then we've taken it out twice, both times when we return to dock, we loose the engines, or at least one of them. His first thought was clogged carburators or maybe a stuck float. It seems that the engines are flooding. Today he changed the water separators but no luck. Any ideas?? they are Mercuiser engines.

How long has boat sat? Sounds like fuel probleum ,maybe just old fuel, can't get any acceleration? I remove fuel from my tank, it doesn't last come spring, ck. your distributor caps too, but with happening to both ,seems like bad fuel
