Coastal 2600 Cabin Upgrade

Postby Rich3rdMorris » Mon Mar 28, 2016 11:39 pm

I finally got around to updating my cabin over the last month. I have alot of new items left over from my last two (2) boats so, I didn't have to buy alot! I installed new flooring thru-out; teak & holly on main floor and tan/beige carpet by settee. I also painted the cabinet doors to help break up all the white. Installed a small microwave/ cd/mp3 player/ 110 or 12volt tv-dvd combo/ solar powered vent fan/ solar powered battery charger & maintainer/ galley & head faucets/ cabin entrance ladder/ Smoke & CO alarm/ 5 gallon water heater. Still have to install my Krusin Kool 7000btu marine a/c unit/ dive tanks holder/ spear gun holders & dive ladder. I'm also gonna use my best friend's carpet cleaning van and see about getting rid of the headliner stains. I've managed to get alot done, hoping to get her wet mid April.

Looks great. Was the sub floor rotten at all? Where are you putting the AC unit?

Thanks! I just wanted to update the cabin. Subfloors were in good shape, looks like the 2nd owner took care of some minor rot. The Krusin Kool Marine A/C unit is a small/compact 7000 btu unit drawing 5.5amps. I did some testing with my Honda eu2000 generator and it worked fine. (Now before this turns into a portable generator debate, I mount my Honda on top of my hardtop, so it's up high enough to not be a problem) my plans are to mount it on the floor in the V berth area. I ordered two (2) 110v electric marine pumps; one for the intake and the other for discharge. This unit works by taking in raw water to cool. In my clean area of my shop I was able to get it down to 60* from 76* so I'm pretty confident that'll this unit will keep the cabin cool enough on those hot Louisiana summer nights. I'm going to start this project after I get the bottom and hull painted I'll post my progress as well as results.
