Hello. I have a 1986 Wellcraft 2900 Sport Bridge. My steering is horrible. Does anyone know what cable(s) I need for this boat? Thanks in advance.

Not sure I know what you mean by "Horrible" but if you can see the cable anywhere a part# or Length will be marked on it

Okay, so I assume you are complaining about very stiff steering. I think you have twin engine inboards. They would have teleflex cable steering connected to a bronze rod that moves both rudders. So your first step is to disconnect the cable at the rudders and see if the wheel turns easy. If so you are lucky. So then disconnect one end of the rod and see which rudder is causing the problem. Repacking the stuffing boxes should fix the problem, but you can probably work the rudder shaft back and forth with a pipe wrench and improve things a little. If the problem was found to be in the cable, then replacing it would be the only option. If pulling a new cable appears impossible because of too many tight bends, then consider abandoning it in place and installing hydraulic steering.
