Hi All, I've been having some fuel starvation issues with my 270 Coastal. I went to pull and inspect the pickup tubes in the fuel tank, and low and behold the pickup tubes are welded into the tank.
Has anyone else seen this and if so, do you know if those pickup tubes have screens on them that could potentially get clogged?

Usually if they are welded on then its just an aluminum tube, no screen. If your having fuel issues delete the anti siphon valve by knocking out the spring and ball, drilling them out or replacing with a plain barb. First thing I do when I buy a boat. Nothing but issues.

My boat only has an anti syphon valve on the line going to the generator. Since I don't know how old some of the fuel can be (issues started when for the 1st time i ran it down to 1/4 of a tank) I also just put in a gallon of seafoam. I changed all the filters as there was no shortage of varnish, will change the fuel pressure regulator this week.

Best bet is to blow back through the fuel line and then drain all the fuel buy removing the sender and starting fresh.

A1251 may be right, going to try Seafoam 1st to dissolve the varnish see how bad it is. Hate to throw away 100 gal of new fuel.
