I have some rot in the floor in front of the sink, can feel it crunching under the carpet. Has anyone done this repair and if so do you have any tips. Also does anyone have any idea where the water comes from that causes the rot in the first place. Thanks

As I mentioned in another post, the subfloor had already been changed by the p.o. when I got my boat. It would appear to me that the water intrusion issue stems from 1 of 2 places: main or 1st problem area are the port and starboard windows. I've had 2 other boats with this same style window and everyone of them leaked! On my 2600, I just sealed them in the closed position. Since doing this I've eliminated my leak problem, however there is a slight downside, you forfeit your 2 function windows, but to me it was worth the trade off. My plans are to remove the 2 windows, glass over the opening and install 2 per side fixed oval windows. On the plus side this will give the boat a more modern look! The 2nd place I noticed was the galley faucet had a leak as well. Easy fix, I bought a new faucet and used teflon tape on all my screw-on fittings. I really believe that the windows leaking was the main cause for the rot, so if I were you I'd look there 1st. One other thing, when the p.o. repaired the main subfloor he used hardie backer, which makes alot of sense, considering that there's moisture and water involved with every boat. Hope this helps.

Rich, Thanks for the advice, my faucet was leaking and has been replaced already. Ill see when I pull up the carpet. Ugh. Jim
