Water leak(?)

Hello all.
Not sure if this is a stupid question or not.
Just did my first water pump on my Alpha 1 Gen 2. After reassemble, I slapped on the muffs and turned on the hose WITHOUT the engine running and noticed water coming out between upper and lower housings.
I’m thinking that’s normal but not sure. First time I’ve worked on an Alpha outdrive.
Any comments are appreciated.

I realize this thread's OP was a while back, but for those reading in the future...

If it's leaking out between the SEAM of the upper and lower, it's most likely that the lower drive isn't totally seated, and the water tube o-Ring slid out of place during reassembly. ...

But wait- that's not all...

There's a weep hole in the drive upper that, once you lift it out of the water, will drain any water in the pump housing UPWARDS, out of the hoses, tubes, pump and drive. Frequently it's plugged with marine goo and sand, but when not, that will weep out and leave the drive dry so it cannot freeze.

Look closer!
