Oil

Hi just purchased a 1996 Wellcraft Martinique 32 footer with twin 454’s wondering if it would be a good idea to switch to full synthetic oil in the motors any help would be appreciated

The general consensus is that if you can afford full synthetics, they are preferred. They have fewer impurities, the smaller more uniform molecules seem to reduce cold starts, and of course allow for longer oil change intervals. Here is a quote from a boating magazine:
"Eliminating crude means eliminating naturally occurring contaminants like wax, but more importantly, it means the oil molecules are smaller and of more uniform size so they produce a more even film that does a better job of keeping metal components from touching each other. Synthetics have more sophisticated additives that provide stable viscosity across a wider temperature range and reduce friction, especially at startup."
