Throttle Tension

I have an SL3 Teleflex dual throttle control (1998 martinique 3000). On the port throttle - once I get on plane and let go of the lever - it slowing retreats back towards idle. So I am constantly adjusting it as I motor along. I have increased the tension screw on the box - but it has no effect. Any ideas - is my control box wearing out?
