Gasoline odor/fumes in 2003 240 Coastal cuddy

Just purchased this boat and it is in great shape. When the cuddy has been closed there is a strong gasoline odor. It dissipates after moving for a while. Is this normal? Does it suggest a fuel tank leak? How to diagnose the source?

Hello,
I bought my Coastal 240 in 2009 and have had the same issue. However, it doesn't seem to be a problem once the boat is in use. BTW, I'm looking for some boat parts such as the rod holders located on the right and left sides by the fish boxes located in the deck and captain's side panel that has the drink holder. I'd also like to replace the upper part of the cabin door.

Have you had any luck finding parts?

Thanks. I would say it's the same for me once it's opened up and I'm underway. If we ever try to spend a night in the cuddy I'm concerned it might not be possible-the smell often seems strong enough. My cuddy is very clean and I have had it detailed--they shampooed all the carpeting and the headers. I think I'll try some bilge cleaner although the automatic bilge pump makes it difficult to get much volume in there and hold it while I slosh it around by driving the boat.
I have not tried to buy any parts; everything on the boat is in top shape except the tach and speedometer, neither of which works.

I have the same problem, after some time of hunting the fumes, it's my starboard tank, I just noticed yesterday while I was putting in a new module, I seen a wet spot on the low left hand corner.
So for now, I'm going to use port tank and drain other tank and put half way with water, that's just to even my boat out.
I will have to remove my whole deck just to get to that tank.
But becareful sleeping in your cabin with fumes,it made us sick.
But check your gas lines and smell around engine, I'll bet you'll find it.

My 240 only has one tank. Through an access pint on the rear floor I can see only the top of it where the hoses enter/exit. It's gooey but no leaks there. Yeah, have to cut the floor to get it out. I'll do some serious bilge cleaning for a start. No gas accumulating in the rear of the bilge behind the tank...

If it's damp the might be the cause of smell, it doesn't take much to smell, is fuel filler hose dbl.clamped and tight, clean up with some bio degreaser
