Fuel tank vent

89 Eclipse, 5. 0 motor. with gas cap on, motor quits after a few minutes. take cap off it runs. so vent plugged, right? took it off and cleaned it out===nothing blocking it so vent seems to work. weird! help?

:-) Found solution. I installed an electric fuel pump that was putting out too much pressure. At hi RPMs engine would handle it OK but at idle, fuel was pushing past needle valve and flooding out the engine. Now I just use electric pump to prime engine, then turn it off.

Sounds dangerous, most boat explosions happen at start up, recommend the right fuel pump set up
