Smells coming from Holding Tank, 290 coastal

Postby nomisnad » Sat Jun 23, 2018 2:35 pm

My 2006 WellCraft 290 Coastal has smells coming from holding tank.
I have never changed the charcoal filter since new in 2006.
I need to know what to order from internet....
Part number?
Who to buy it from?
Cost?
Please help...
Summer has started and I want the boat to smell great!
Thanks,

Maybe your tank could use a rinse out, look at filter see what it says, between tank and outside breath hole, should be a plastic looking cyl, with the hose going in and out each end, common, $100+

Do u put a toilet chemical in it to maintain? About once a mo. Empty it, even if not full, keep crap out of it, somebody shits, pump it out

Get rid of the filter. You don't need it. Change the hoses as many as you can get to. Use high quality sanitation hoses. Now use good old fashioned aquachem every time you empty the tank. No high tech or environmentally friendly stuff. Aqua chem contains formaldehyde and that gets the job done. And you can buy it at any Walmart.
