Hi

Postby cosmic17 » Mon Aug 10, 2020 10:32 pm

Hi, this is Cosmic. I just found this forum while browsing the internet and found it to be quite interesting. Looking forward to learning as much as I can about this 1992 St Tropez I'm about to close on in a couple of weeks. I only wish it was sooner! I've been looking at boats for quite some time, but there is something about the 32 foot Wellcraft St Tropez that draws me to it. Looking forward to the adventure.

Thank you CptBill And LMK. CptBill, do you have any idea what transmission would be in a 1992 St Tropes 7.4L engine. The owner and the broker don't seam to know.

The last St Tropez I looked at had Twin Disc transmissions but I don't think wellcraft used them exclusively

Does it look like this? That is a Borg Warner Velvet Drive transmission. the little black handle is for checking the fluid level and is prominent when inspecting the transmission. The Vdrive will be attached. Note the identification plate, Model 70 is blue, model 71 is red, model 72 is green.

Thank you all for the input. I will be closing this week and should be on the way from Bradenton to St. Pete Friday or Saturday. Can't wait!

Oh yes, weather was good, not great. I encountered some swells about 3 feet at times and gotten no help from the wind, but I made it in just fine. Took the rest of the day cleaning up and replacing some lights and bulbs. Starboard side fuel guage is stuck on empty and the impulse depth guage is not readable. I know its going to take me some time to figure out what's what with this vessel. Appreciate your concern Capt Bill.
