What size anchor shoud I use?

Postby BrentF » Tue Jan 19, 2016 8:07 am

I just recently purchased my used 2008 290 Coastal and it has a smaller Danforth anchor (maybe 14lb), which has chipped the bow gel coat in the past. In our area near Miami, FL, the Plough (not claw) seems to be the most popular, but I'm not sure what size is suggested for my boat. I bought a 15KG (33 lb), but it kinda looks big and I'm concerned about the strength of the windlass. Can other Coastal owners please share their experience and give me your anchor size and thoughts?

Thanks, Brent in Miami
