Hi All,
Need some hull information if possible. Since buying the boat a couple years ago I noticed the bow always sits heavy. The engineer did a full boat inspection and did not find any major issues with the boat just stuff he recommended to make better.
The boat is in the water all summer from June to October then on a trailer with shrink wrap the rest of the time.
Last week we spun a hub on the prop. As we traveled in to the dock noticed the bow real heavy. Looked in the cabin at the dock had 5-6 inches of water in it. I then found out my bilge pump had issues (murphy's Law) and was not working on automatic or manual. We fixed that problem but I am concerned about the water in the bow? And how and why it went forward.
So I need a few answers and hope someone here can point me in the right direction.
1. The bow is completely sealed. Does anyone know if the bow is filled with foam? And if so is it a water proof foam or will it retain water?
2.The hull appeared to be in good condition when I purchased the boat. Before painting the bottom I always inspect and have found no issues. I only have 1 thru hull fitting for the wash down and bait well. That area is completely dry. There are a couple of transom mounts for the fish finders. Anyone have any ideas what to check and how to do it?
If anyone can recommend a reputable boat (hull) mechanic please let me know.
Thanks for any information
Don

View the latest post Reverse Polarity light when connected to shore power
- Posted by: DetectDave » Tue Aug 11, 2015 11:43 am
- Forum: Electrical
Hey guys, I have a 1982 Wellcraft 255 Aft-Cabin that I just started having an issue with connecting to shore power. The reverse polarity light is on. I have tried a different slip with shore power as well as trying different shore cables from good known working boats and shore boxes. When the light is on I cannot even flip the breaker over- I can push it but it just returns back to the tripped location. I am thinking possible issue with the main breaker? The main breaker has what looks like 3 individual breakers together. Any help on what to check would be appreciated- I am more familiar with 12V systems so I didnt want to start probing without a diagram.
Thanks for any help!

We recently purchased a 2003 290 coastal. We upgraded from a 21' center console. The coastal is an awesome boat and our family is really enjoying our time on it. Our home port is Point Pleasant New Jersey.

View the latest post 1989 Monaco gas tank acts full and it isn't

Hi,
I have a 1989 Monaco. I usually put gas in the tanks by 5 gallon tank. (to save the $1.65 a gallon difference in fuel cost from local pump to on water price)
My port tank was reading less than 1/4 tank....and I believ4ee that is about correct. I added 10 gallons. I always add the same amount to each side.
I then went to add more and it started coming out the over flow vent. I am pretty sure the tank is not full. My starboard side is showing about 1/2 a tank.
I went for a ride for about an hour. Came back to dock and tried to add gas to port tank.
It took about 2 gallons and then goes out overflow again. The gauge shows less than 1/4 full. I think that is correct.
What could it be? I know it could be the gage or sending unit. But I always put the same amount of fuel on each side. I really don't think one side is full.
Thanks
Art
